An ordeal in stickers! Seven Brides for Seven Brothers

This poster arrived to me with some serious issues to correct; the most imperative was to remove the 19 stickers which had been applied to the backside to reinforce broken fold lines and weak corners. Armed with a mask, gloves and a solvent, I went to work…

 

The above photos show some of the 2+ hours spent carefully removing the stickers from the back of the poster. The glue residue from the stickers left behind eventually had to be lightly sanded in an attempt to reduce any visual effects after the wash and mounting process.

The poster has received a deacidification bath, bleaching, buffering & has been mounted on acid-free Japanese Masa paper & cotton canvas…it’s now ready for paper infill, watercolor pencils & some cleaning up of the borders.
